The Mirror: British soldier jailed for involvement in conflict in Ukraine
British soldier Alexander Garms-Rizzi was sentenced to prison for leaving his duty station and going to fight in Ukraine.
The Mirror, reporting this, writes that the court noted that the actions of the man could provoke, no less, a war between Great Britain and the Russian Federation.
“Acting as a shooter along with the Ukrainian militia, the 21-year-old Briton violated orders, created a security risk,” the publication says. “If he were captured, “the potential harm would be difficult to downplay.”
The soldier, as specified, was in the regiment of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers stationed in Estonia. Garms-Rizzi left the unit, writing to his colleagues about his intention to go to Ukraine and take part in the conflict on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The court sentenced the mercenary to 12 months of detention in a military center.
