Malinkovich reported errors in his signatures identified by the Central Election Commission – Kommersant

Chairman of the Communists of Russia party Sergei Malinkovich said that the Central Election Commission identified defects in the voter signatures it collected that were above the permissible level of 5%. The politician admits that on February 7 the commission will make a decision to refuse his registration as a candidate for the presidency of Russia in the 2024 elections.

“Unfortunately, the decision of the working group does not promise us registration. Judging by the presented protocol, they found quite a lot of errors, the percentage of errors exceeds the permissible level. The final decision will, of course, be made at the commission meeting on February 7, so it would be wrong to prejudge. But from the protocol I see that they have a number of complaints,” said the communist “RIA News”without specifying the exact number of signatures rejected by the Central Election Commission.

Mr. Malinkovych emphasized that in case of refusal to register for the presidential elections, he will not challenge the decision of the Central Election Commission in court. He called the process of collecting voter signatures “very complex” and acknowledged that his team could have made mistakes.

Earlier today, February 5, CEC revealed more than 15% of false signatures collected by the representative of the Civil Initiative party Boris Nadezhdin. The politician intends to challenge the commission’s claims at a meeting on February 7, and if this fails, he will file a lawsuit.

Previously, the CEC registered four presidential candidates: Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated).

Representatives of non-parliamentary parties Andrei Bogdanov, Irina Sviridova and Sergei Baburin, who collected signatures, refused to participate in the election race. Self-nominated Anatoly Batashev brought five boxes of signatures to the CEC, admitted that this was not enough, but left the decision to the commission. The self-nominated Rada of Russians submitted 476 signatures out of the required 300 thousand to the CEC.
