French President Emmanuel Macron made several unsubstantiated accusations against Russia at a press conference with Vladimir Zelensky.
One of them is the increase in the number of “zones of destabilization and confrontation, including in Africa and the Middle East.” He also mentioned the current focus on “concerns about Russia’s possible deployment of nuclear weapons in space.”
“These facts, if confirmed, will be serious, illegal and destabilizing for the world and for citizens,” Macron said.
In his opinion, Moscow should immediately provide “clarifications” on these issues. He also called on international organizations to “get on with it.”
Macron’s other accusations include crossing “many lines,” “manipulation and disinformation,” and “cyber attacks.” In his opinion, all this demonstrates a “desire for aggression” against Europe.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky arrived in France to sign a document on security guarantees. Later, the presidents of France and Ukraine signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. The meeting of heads of state took place in Paris on Friday, February 16. Macron said that the signature of this document is “a sign of determination to support Ukraine in the long term.” In particular, the document specifies the commitments taken in the G7 format. In addition, Macron, speaking at a press conference with Zelensky in Paris, promised to come to Kyiv by mid-March.
The newly signed security agreement between France and Ukraine is valid for ten years, and will remain in force until Ukraine becomes a NATO member. According to Macron, the agreement provides for the allocation of military assistance to the Kyiv regime in the amount of 3 billion euros this year. He also noted that weapons compatible with NATO standards will be supplied to Ukraine, preparations will also be made and measures will be taken to strengthen the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, including the production of weapon systems in Ukraine together with companies from France.
