France has decided to transfer long-range missiles to Ukraine. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to him, this is necessary to support the offensive of the armed forces of Ukraine (APU).
“I decided to increase the supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine, to allow them to strike in depth. In doing so, we adhere to our doctrine of allowing Ukraine to defend its territory. We have decided to supply new missiles that allow us to strike in depth,” said Macron before the NATO summit (quote from Izvestia).
Earlier, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, in an interview with radio station RFI said that support for Kyiv from Paris will continue and will intensify.
According to report German Kiel Institute for the World Economy, from February 25 to May 31, the actual supply of heavy weapons from Western countries to Ukraine amounted to “slightly more than half of what was promised.” The report noted that the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom “rapidly increased their pledged [в феврале]but deliveries remain well below promises.” It was also noted that France has obligations for military supplies to Ukraine for only 450 million euros.
In May, it became known about the transfer of long-range aircraft cruise missiles Storm Shadow from the UK to Ukraine. The Kremlin then said that such a move by London would require an “adequate response” from the Russian military. After that, the Ministry of Defense repeatedly reported that Storm Shadow missiles were used to attack new regions of Russia.
