The French President allowed an operation to confront the Russian army

The French authorities may carry out an operation to “confront Russian troops” in Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with Le Parisien. His words were quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to him, he himself does not want such a development of events, and does not intend to become the initiator of the “operation.”

“Perhaps at some point… it will be necessary to carry out operations on the ground, whatever they may be, to counter Russian forces,” the French president said, noting that France’s strength “lies in the fact that it “can do this.”

At the same time, Macron previously announced his readiness to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin on issues of de-escalating the conflict in Ukraine. According to the French leader, he is ready to listen to proposals from Moscow. According to Macron, Paris’s role in this conflict is to be the “nerve of the war,” and Paris intends to help the Kyiv regime strengthen its defense capabilities. He also noted the need to promote a ceasefire.

Earlier, Macron made several unsubstantiated accusations against Russia at a press conference with Vladimir Zelensky. One of them is the increase in the number of “zones of destabilization and confrontation, including in Africa and the Middle East.” He also mentioned the current focus on “concerns about Russia’s possible deployment of nuclear weapons in space.” Macron’s other accusations include crossing “many lines,” “manipulation and disinformation,” and “cyber attacks.” In his opinion, all this demonstrates a “desire for aggression” against Europe.

In February, the presidents of France and Ukraine signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. Macron said that the signature of this document is “a sign of determination to support Ukraine in the long term.” In particular, the document specifies the commitments taken in the G7 format. In addition, Macron, speaking at a press conference with Zelensky in Paris, promised to come to Kyiv by mid-March.

The newly signed security agreement between France and Ukraine is valid for ten years, and will remain in force until Ukraine becomes a NATO member. According to Macron, the agreement provides for the allocation of military assistance to the Kyiv regime in the amount of 3 billion euros this year. He also noted that weapons compatible with NATO standards will be supplied to Ukraine, preparations will also be made and measures will be taken to strengthen the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, including the production of weapon systems in Ukraine together with companies from France.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that he and Macron previously had good working relations, but he decided to end them. According to Putin, the Russian Federation is ready to continue to interact with France.
