Lukashenko wishes peace to Ukrainians on Independence Day

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Ukraine on Independence Day and wished them peace. Congratulation published on the website of the Belarusian leader.

Lukashenka noted that Belarusians and Ukrainians have “lived in harmony and respect” for centuries. In his opinion, even today both peoples have such common features as diligence, diligence, respect for elders, their traditions and original culture.

“We must use the value of our neighborhood to end the confrontation. The Belarusian side is ready to do everything necessary for this and even more. I believe that we can do it,” Lukashenka addressed the people of Ukraine, wishing him peace.

Earlier, Lukashenka repeatedly called on the parties to the conflict to stop hostilities in Ukraine and sit down at the negotiating table. In March he offered declare a truce without the right to move and transfer military equipment from both sides. In August, the Belarusian leader pointed outthat negotiations should begin without preconditions. Lukashenko said that Russia is “ready to talk about any topic,” but Ukraine does not want this yet.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly pointed out the impossibility of negotiations due to Kyiv’s refusal at the legislative level to dialogue with Moscow. At the end of July, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Russia remains open to negotiations, which, according to him, cannot be said about Ukraine. As the Kremlin spokesman noted, Kyiv maintains an “irreconcilable position”, even being “in a rather difficult situation.”
