Lukashenko: The West is trying with all its might to draw Belarus into the conflict in Ukraine

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Western countries are trying with all their might to draw the republic into the conflict in Ukraine. He said this at a narrow session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, transmits BelTA.

“Western countries have accused and continue to accuse us of all mortal sins. They are trying with all their might to draw Belarus into this conflict, although they themselves are “up to their ears” involved in this. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are trained on their training grounds according to NATO programs. Kyiv is provided with Western weapons and military equipment,” Lukashenka said. The Belarusian president also recalled the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that Russia’s victory in the conflict in Ukraine would mean the defeat of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to him, NATO is finally fixed anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian vectors.

Lukashenko stressed the need to stop the conflict in Ukraine and start peace talks. At the same time, the President of Belarus wondered whether Ukraine would be allowed to sit at the negotiating table. “Belarus has constantly and persistently warned of a dangerous escalation of the military-political situation in the European region. We pointed to the degradation of the international security system, the depreciation of agreements in the field of disarmament and arms control,” Lukashenka said.

Last month, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich declaredthat the country will not enter into a military conflict until the state border is violated – “then we will fight back.” He stressed that “the West is increasingly trying to find leverage and ways of influence in order to draw our country into a military conflict,” since some European states are not satisfied with the existence of “such a corner of security, peace, creation” as Belarus.

On October 10, Lukashenka instructed to deploy a small part of the Russian military on the territory of the republic as part of the deployment of a joint regional group of troops. The basis of this group, the formation of which has already begun, will be the Belarusian military, he stressed. The Belarusian president also believes that Kyiv is preparing to open a second front on the border with the republic, which is “crazy from a military point of view,” but Ukraine is being pushed into this by its Western “masters.”
