President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed a law that provides for the death penalty for treason committed by an official or military personnel.
How informs BelTA, for a number of other crimes of an anti-state orientation, additional punishment is provided in the form of a fine of up to 50 thousand basic units.
The law also introduces criminal liability for propaganda of terrorism, discrediting the Armed Forces of Belarus, disclosure of state secrets.
Persons who are suspected of committing high treason or actions to seize state power can now be detained for 10 days, instead of the three days previously provided for by law.
At the same time, persons who abandoned their intentions and assisted in the prevention of these crimes may be released from liability.
