Lukashenka urged not to make heroes out of anyone after an attempted rebellion in Russia

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged “not to make heroes” either from him, or from Russian President Vladimir Putin, or from the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin in connection with the events related to attempts at an armed rebellion in Russia. The Belarusian leader stated this at the ceremony of presenting the general’s epaulettes.

“I said: in no case do not make a hero out of me, neither of me, nor of Putin, nor of Prigozhin, because we missed the situation, and then we thought that it would resolve, but it did not resolve. And two people who fought at the front collided. There are no heroes in this case, convinced Lukashenka (quote from the Telegram channel Pool of the First).

The day before, June 26, in his evening address to the Russians, Putin thanked Lukashenka for his efforts and contribution to the peaceful resolution of the situation associated with an attempted armed rebellion in Russia.

An attempt at a military mutiny by PMC “Wagner” was made on the night of June 24. On the evening of June 23, Prigozhin published reports of a strike on the rear camps of the company and blamed the army for this. The Ministry of Defense called the information false and described it as a provocation. Already in the morning, Wagner controlled Rostov-on-Don, capturing all the military facilities of the city, after which the PMC began to advance towards Moscow. Later, the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case against Prigozhin under the article on armed rebellion.

On the evening of June 24, Prigozhin announced the stoppage of traffic to Moscow. The Kremlin reported that Lukashenka participated in negotiations to resolve the situation with the founder of the PMC. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov also said that as a result, an agreement was reached that the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he would move to Belarus.
