Lukashenka reveals details of night talks with Putin

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko agreed to prepare a unified Security Concept for the Union State of Russia and Belarus. However, both sides are ready for joint actions, and of the most resolute nature, even without a corresponding document. “We will use everything we have to protect our peoples. We are not blackmailing anyone, but it will be so, ”Lukashenko said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

Vladimir Putin held a tête-à-tête meeting with Alexander Lukashenko the night before, and all the most important, apparently, was said at it. At least, none of the leaders was in a hurry to start a meeting of the Supreme State Council (SSC) of the Union State. Vladimir Putin first decided to hold meetings with the leaders of the new regions, whom he did not have time to hear on Wednesday due to a busy schedule. The first to come to the Kremlin was Denis Pushilin (DNR), then it was the turn of Leonid Pasechnik (LNR), then Yevgeny Balitsky (Zaporozhye region) and, finally, Vladimir Saldo (Kherson region). Judging by the timing, it took no more than 15–20 minutes for each visitor, but the most important thing was said, first of all, by the head of state himself.

“The task of all our armed formations – the Ministry of Defense, volunteers – is to make sure that there are no shelling at all (new and old Russian territory. – “MK”)”, — revealed the priority of the current stage of the special operation of the GDP. He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to “remove to such a distance from which they cannot harm us.” Taking into account the weapons available to Ukraine, this is at least 70-100 km from the current line of contact. In what perspective this can be achieved, the president did not specify, but made it clear that the shelling would not affect the plans for the development of new regions in any case. Roads and new railway lines will be built in them (so far at a safe distance), benefits and pensions will be paid on time. In general, meetings with the leaders of the four regions took the head of state an hour and a half.

How Alyaksandr Lukashenka spent this time, history is silent (most likely, he slept off, because the tête-à-tête negotiations ended at three o’clock in the morning), but the rest of the VGS participants (and it includes prime ministers, speakers of parliaments and officials of two countries) patiently waited for the completion of the audiences. Finally, the gilded doors were thrown open and the two presidents walked out to the delegations to take their places of honor at the head of a large oval table. Vladimir Putin this time was laconic. Moscow, as it turned out, provides only a platform. And Belarus presides over the union this year. Therefore, Putin limited himself to a greeting, as well as a promise to resolve all problematic issues, if any, are found in the course of the discussion. “But I don’t see such people,” he admitted, glancing through the summons.

Unlike the Russian president, Old Man did not restrain himself and delivered a long and, as he usually does, fiery speech, from which, among other things, it was possible to find out what exactly the presidents discussed last night. As expected, these were mostly closed questions concerning defense and security. “We do not disclose the subject. But in the near future you will see and hear everything, ”Batka intrigued those present. However, some details still became public. “Weapons just flowed from Ukraine to Russia, and through Russia to us. Through Bryansk and other regions,” Lukashenka publicly complained. He clarified that the border between Belarus and Ukraine, unlike the Russian one, is “tightly closed.” But illegal traffic and saboteurs have to be fought both there and here: the other day, the KGB and the FSB “covered the entire network.” Some of the weapons, according to Batka, end up in caches – they “go in” there and “take them” when necessary. “This is how this situation happened in St. Petersburg (the murder of military commissar Vladlen Tatarsky),” Lukashenka explained, adding that ammunition and explosives “are not carried in pockets” specifically for sabotage.

Another topic of night talks is the import substitution of microcircuits. First of all, for the needs of the defense industry. Moscow in this matter, apparently, has high hopes for Minsk (and even allocated considerable funds for this purpose). Therefore, before the trip, Lukashenko called one of the developers to his place and asked how the work was progressing. “Airplanes fly and will fly, missiles fly and will fly,” Batka quoted him as saying. As it turned out, Belarusians cannot produce only 7 nanometer chips. But the defense industry and space, according to Lukashenka, usually do not need them. And whoever needs it can take it from the iPhone. In general, in Aesopian language, the Belarusian president admitted what everyone already guessed: Western technology is everywhere dismantled for the sake of microcircuits.

Finally, another topic of closed talks was information policy. “We have no right to lose the battle for the minds and hearts of our citizens!” – said Old Man, noting that the ideological confrontation along the East-West line will not weaken even when the guns fall silent. It can be assumed that there are still problems with this in Belarus, since Lukashenko spoke in favor of creating a “serious allied media holding”. Or the President of Belarus needed money again. “It won’t be cheap,” he warned honestly.

As for the socio-economic agenda of the Union State, there really were no problematic issues, as Putin predicted. Cooperation is developing in all directions. Trade turnover reached a record $45 billion (and according to Minsk, even $50 billion). Somewhere on the horizon is the creation of a unified oil and gas market (before, Lukashenka has always complained that work in this direction is slow). Integration programs have already been completed by 74%. Vladimir Putin said that the meeting also discussed the preparation of the Security Concept for the Union State. In this document, according to him, the fundamental tasks of interaction between Russia and Belarus will be formulated in the light of growing tensions, sanctions and information war.
