President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented a tractor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his visit to Zimbabwe. The leader of Zimbabwe, in turn, gave Lukashenka a stuffed lion, informs BelTA.
Telegram channel “Pool of the First”, close to the press service of the President of Belarus, clarifiedthat Lukashenka donated a tractor for Mnangagwe’s personal subsidiary plot.
Lukashenka arrived in Zimbabwe the day before, on January 30. The next day, the leaders of the two countries were scheduled to hold talks, as well as a ceremony to hand over equipment from Belarusian manufacturers as part of the completion of the second phase of the Zimbabwean farm mechanization program.
As a result of negotiations with the leader of the republic Lukashenka announced third phase of the program. He said that over the next 1.5 years, Belarus will supply Zimbabwe with agricultural machinery worth more than $66 million. More than 3,700 tractors and 60 combines are meant.
The Belarusian president recalled that since the beginning of the program, Belarus has transferred over 1,800 tractors and about 80 grain harvesters to Zimbabwe. Mnangagwe noted that thanks to the actions of Minsk, Zimbabwe was able to solve the issue of the country’s food security.
This is not the first time Lukashenka has donated Belarusian tractors to world leaders. Thus, the BELARUS tractor for its 70th anniversary in October 2022 received Russian President Vladimir Putin.
