Lukashenka drew attention to the fact that now there is a lot of “talk and chatter” about the Wagner, and people do not understand that the Belarusian authorities are pragmatic about this issue and plan to use the combat experience of PMCs.
“Tell us what is important now. For the last time, Putin told me: counter-battery combat is impossible without it. Drones. They went through it. They will tell you about weapons: which worked well, which did not. And tactics, and weapons, and how to attack, how to defend. It’s priceless. This is what we need to take from the Wagnerites,” the President added.
At the same time, Lukashenka urged not to be afraid of PMC detachments. “There is nothing to be afraid of them. We keep our ears open,” the Belarusian leader said.
On June 24, Lukashenka participated in negotiations with the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, who attempted a military rebellion, took control of Rostov-on-Don and announced plans to move towards Moscow. Before that, he accused the Ministry of Defense of attacking the rear camps of the company. The Russian military department called the information about the strikes a provocation.
On the evening of June 24, following the results of the negotiations, it became known that the criminal case against Prigozhin about a military mutiny would be terminated, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.”
