Lukashenka does not believe that Kyiv will decide to aggravate the situation in Transnistria

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko believes that Kyiv will not aggravate the situation in Transnistria.

“I don’t believe in this,” Lukashenka said on Saturday, answering journalists’ questions, he was quoted by the BelTA state agency.

“It is not profitable for them,” the President of Belarus explained.

According to him, “The West would like to solve the problem with Russia and Transnistria in one blow, to close this “gray hole”, as they say, and unite Moldova, shove it into Romania or make it pro-Western.”

However, “Ukrainians do not need this,” Lukashenka said.

“I do not believe that the Ukrainians will go crazy and unleash some kind of second front,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced a threat to Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria due to a provocation planned by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was alleged that Kyiv was preparing “for an invasion of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic.” According to the Russian military, a significant accumulation of military equipment and personnel of Ukrainian troops is recorded near the border with Transnistria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned the United States, the authorities of Ukraine and the NATO countries against new adventurous steps, in particular, in relation to the PMR.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova refutes Moscow’s allegations about Kyiv’s allegedly preparing provocations in Transnistria.
