Lukashenka: Belarus received destabilization attempts for giving up nuclear weapons

Minsk’s voluntary renunciation of nuclear weapons provoked ongoing attempts to destabilize the situation in the country, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The head of the Belarusian state noted that the republic was one of the first in the post-Soviet space to refuse to own it. According to Lukashenko, instead of real international legal guarantees, Belarus received in return empty, unsupported declarations like the Budapest Memorandum.
Earlier, Lukashenka warned that the Belarusian side could raise the issue of Russia’s possession of nuclear weapons in the event of aggressive actions from the West.
