Lukashenka assured that Minsk would stand up for Moscow during an attempted rebellion

Belarus would stand up for Moscow, as in 1941, during an attempt to organize an armed rebellion by the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin. This was announced by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the ceremony of presenting shoulder straps to the highest officers.

At the ceremony, Lukashenka revealed the details of the negotiations he had with Prigozhin on June 24. According to him, he persuaded the founder of the PMC for a long time to stop the movement of fighters and warned him that Minsk would side with Moscow in this situation.

“You know, you can do whatever you want. But don’t be offended by me. The brigade is ready for transfer to Moscow. And, as in the 41st (you read books, an educated, intelligent person), we will defend Moscow. Because this situation is not only in Russia. This is not only because this is our Fatherland. And because, God forbid, this turmoil would go all over Russia, and the prerequisites for this were colossal, we would be next, ”- told Lukashenka (quote from BelTA).

According to Lukashenka, in a conversation with Prigozhin, he noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin “due to the situation” would not even talk to him on the phone, and PMCs “would be crushed like a bug” halfway through.

Lukashenka also toldthat he was able to contact Prigozhin through the mediation of Russia by installing three channels. He noted that from a conversation with Putin, he realized that a “cruel decision” had been made against PMCs. <...> – wet. In this regard, Lukashenka urged Putin not to rush and offered to talk with Prigozhin.

On the night of June 24, an armed rebellion was attempted in Russia by PMC Wagner and Prigozhin. In the evening, the Kremlin reported on the agreements reached to de-escalate the situation: the PMC would return to the field camps, the criminal case against Prigozhin would be dropped, and he would move to Belarus. On June 27, the FSB announced the termination of the criminal case.

Lukashenka played a key role in the negotiations. On June 26, in an address to the nation, Putin thanked him for his efforts and contribution to resolving the situation.
