The Belarusian security forces detained a terrorist and his accomplices who were planning a sabotage against a Russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft at the Machulishchi airfield near Minsk. This was stated by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko, transmits BelTA.
According to him, the detainee is a citizen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, in 2014 he was recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Six or eight months ago, Lukashenka claims, the SBU and the CIA launched an operation “against the Republic of Belarus”, and a well-trained terrorist was sent to the republic.
“What we saw while implementing the operation in Belarus was really something incredible. The highest technologies were involved. He was trained in all this for more than one month,” he said.
Saboteurs used two small drones to attack the plane, as a result of which the A-50 received scratches and one hole in the hull, Lukashenka added.
Reports of an attack on a military airfield near Minsk appeared at the end of February. Then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus called them fakes, and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic showed footage from an A-50 in good condition. The Kremlin declined to comment on the news at the time.
