Lukashenka and Iranian President sign cooperation roadmap

Presidents of Belarus and Iran Alexander Lukashenko and Ebrahim Raisi signed a roadmap for cooperation until 2026. About this informs BelTA.

The document implies cooperation between Minsk and Tehran in the political, economic, scientific and technical, consular, educational fields, as well as in the field of tourism, media, culture and art. During negotiations with the Iranian leader, Lukashenka stressed that Iran “can rely” on Belarus, and assured that Minsk would do everything necessary to fulfill the agreements.

The heads of state also signed an action plan in honor of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries, an agreement on the transfer of prisoners sentenced to imprisonment, etc.

The meeting between Lukashenka and Raisi took place in Iran. On March 13, in addition to the talks of the leaders, a meeting of delegations is also scheduled. During the negotiations, Lukashenka notedthat thanks to the agreements reached, the countries can enter “a new stage of cooperation.”

In 2022, trade between the countries amounted to $100 million, which is almost three times higher than in 2021 ($33 million). The volume of Belarusian exports to Iran exceeded $81 million, having increased six times. Belarus mainly supplies Iran with potash fertilizers, timber, synthetic fibers and imports food products.
