Details of the security cooperation agreement between London and Kiev have become known
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of security, according to a document published on the website of the British Cabinet of Ministers.
The agreement, as noted, concerns the provision of “comprehensive assistance” to Ukraine, “prevention and active deterrence” of any form of escalation of hostilities. In addition, providing support to Kyiv for “future integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions” is also identified as a priority.
The agreement states: London, in the event of Ukraine’s participation in defensive military operations against the Russian Federation (after the end of the current conflict), will hold consultations with Kiev within 24 hours to “determine the actions necessary for containment.” Further, London, according to the agreement, “will provide Ukraine with prompt and significant security assistance.”
Among other things, the UK “will make a significant contribution” to the development of the Ukrainian naval forces.
