Logvinov: Ukrainian defense spending will force the EU to moderate its ambitions in other areas

Unplanned European Union (EU) spending, including to help Ukraine, will force the EU to moderate its ambitions in other important areas. This was announced by the acting permanent representative of Russia to the EU, Kirill Logvinov.
“It is obvious that increasing defense spending was not part of the EU’s plans, so it will have to moderate its ambitions even in those areas that should provide a qualitative breakthrough in the development of European integration,” Logvinov believes.
According to him, Brussels’ actions in the economic and financial spheres are aimed at fulfilling the main political priority – providing assistance to Kyiv, as well as inflicting a “strategic defeat on Russia.”
The diplomat does not believe that now the EU “everything is going according to plan” in this matter.
