Loading on the network of Russian Railways in August decreased by 5%

Loading on the network of JSC “Russian Railways” in August 2022 decreased by 5% and amounted to 103.6 million tons, follows from statements company press office. Loading for the whole of 2022 amounted to 820.5 million tons.
Cargo turnover in August decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 220.7 billion tariff ton-km. Cargo turnover, taking into account the mileage of empty wagons, decreased by 0.4% over the same period and amounted to 275.7 billion ton-km. According to Russian Railways, loading in January-August decreased by 3.4%, to 820.5 million tons.
Loading of hard coal decreased by 5.7% (232.2 million tons), grain – by 10.2% (14 million tons), timber cargo – by 21.4% (22.7 million tons). However, the loading of oil and oil products increased by 0.1% and amounted to 142.7 million tons. The total freight turnover in January-August increased by 0.7% and amounted to 1,753.9 billion tariff ton-km.
In July, loading on the networks of Russian Railways also decreased in annual terms by 5.5%. At the end of August, it became known that Russian Railways decided to increase the shipment of containers from the Far East. However, the company reported problems with the export of containers, including transit through the Vostochny port in Nakhodka. They proposed to solve them by installing containers on gondola cars that unloaded coal in the port. But local representatives of the port administration were not ready to switch to such technology.
