Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister. This was confirmed on Friday, March 15, by the press service of the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers.

The reason for Anusauskas’s decision has not been officially announced, and it is also unknown what he will do after leaving the post of Minister of Defense. The head of the parliamentary committee on national security and defense, Laurynas Kaciunas, is called his potential successor.

Earlier, Arvydas Anusauskas, commenting on the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron about the possibility of sending Western military personnel to Ukraine, assured that this was about training missions, components of training. This, according to the Lithuanian politician, is “just a search for ways to help Ukraine.”

Anusauskas also complained that Lithuania does not have enough funds to finance the German military stationed on the Russian-Lithuanian border. The state will have to look for additional sources of funding, the politician admitted.
