Lithuania will block access to the IP addresses of “Russia 1” and “Channel One”

Lithuanian Internet providers will have to restrict access to the IP addresses of the TV channels Rossiya 1, Rossiya 24, RTR Planet, NTV and Channel One. About it informs press service of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LKRTV).
The audit showed that the TV channels that fell under EU sanctions are broadcasting on the Internet. Providers must block access to Russian media IP addresses within five business days. The LKRTV recalled that violation of sanctions entails administrative and criminal liability.
Against the backdrop of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, the EU imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia, which also affected the Russian media. Under the sixth round of sanctions, introduced in June 2022, the EU restricted broadcasting of TV channels “Russia-24”, “RTR-Planeta”, “TV-Center”. In December, the ninth package in European countries selected broadcasting licenses from NTV, Rossiya 1, REN TV and Channel One.
Lithuania banned the broadcasting of the Russian TV channels RTR Planeta, Rossiya-24, NTV Mir in February 2022. Later in the country lost “Mir-24” and RBC. In March, Lithuania blocked 57 sites that broadcast closed Russian and Belarusian channels. In April last year, LKRTV also banned the rebroadcasting of 32 Gazprom Media TV channels.
