Lithuania announced the detention of accomplices of Russian special services

As part of the cooperation between security and law enforcement agencies of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, persons suspected of criminal activities on the territory of these countries on instructions from Russian intelligence services have been detained in Latvia and Estonia. This was announced on Tuesday, February 20, by the Department of State Security of Lithuania.

The Baltic state stated that those detained in Estonia were charged with anti-state activities; those detained in Latvia were charged with assisting Russian intelligence services in activities against Latvia.

At the same time, the number of detainees is not reported, however, the Lithuanian department clarified that the detentions have been carried out since December 2023.

Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not intend to stop,” and therefore the only way to end the conflict in Ukraine is is a complete victory for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Landsbergis also stated that Russia could suddenly attack the North Atlantic Alliance, so one cannot wait until the Russian military attack “every European country”.
