Lavrov: West not ready to meet conditions for return to grain deal

Russia does not see the West’s readiness to fulfill Moscow’s conditions for the resumption of the grain deal. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“So far we don’t see such signs,” he said (quote according to TASS).
On July 17, Russia left the Black Sea Initiative, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin explained this by the failure to fulfill the second part of the agreement, which concerns, among other things, the lifting of restrictions on the supply of Russian products.
On the same day, the White House called on Russia to immediately reconsider such a decision. Later, the American authorities repeatedly urged Moscow to return to the implementation of the deal. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the deal could be resumed if Russia’s demands are met.
On August 3, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that if Moscow were to return to the grain deal, Washington would “continue to do whatever is necessary” to export food. In response, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat the US should facilitate the implementation of the grain deal, and not promise to “think about it.”
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasizedthat the Foreign Ministry’s position on the issue of the grain deal remains the same. To consider resuming it, the West must reconnect Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT, to resume the supply of spare parts, to establish transport logistics and insurance, and to restore the access of Russian companies to their assets.
