Lavrov: the supply of weapons to Kyiv is forced to move the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a safe distance

The longer the range of weapons that the West supplies to Kyiv, the further they need to be moved away from Russian territories. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the General Director of Rossiya Segodnya, Dmitry Kiselev.
“The more long-range weapons are supplied to the Kyiv regime, the further they will need to be moved away from the territories that are our country,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
The head of the Foreign Ministry noted that now the Russian troops are trying to move the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a safe distance for the territory of the Russian Federation.
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation and began to provide military assistance to Ukraine. The day before, February 1, Reuters reportedthat the United States plans to provide Ukraine with a new $2.2 billion military aid package, which will also include missiles with a range of 150 km.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia. In July 2022, Lavrov warned that the supply of long-range weapons would only expand the geography of the special operation.
