The escalation of the Middle East conflict should not spread to Syria and other countries in the region. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Miqdad, reported press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov also noted the unacceptability of Israeli airstrikes on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, which have become more frequent against the backdrop of events around the Gaza Strip. The ministers discussed the danger of attempts by external powers to turn the Middle East into an “arena for settling geopolitical scores.”
Lavrov and Mikdad agreed that the bloodshed in Gaza should immediately stop, and the solution to humanitarian problems should be regulated by political and diplomatic methods.
October 30, two Israeli Air Force F-16 fighters inflicted attack on targets in the Syrian province of Daraa. Military infrastructure facilities were damaged. There were no casualties or injuries.
