Lavrov: The EC can buy excess Ukrainian grain and send it to Africa

The European Commission (EC) could buy surplus Ukrainian grain, which creates competition in Europe, and send it to Africa. This proposal was put forward by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference following the session of the UN General Assembly.
“If the European Commission spends tens and tens of billions of dollars on Ukraine, why not this grain that Ukraine wants to sell… let the European Commission buy this grain and send it to Africa,” said the Russian diplomat.
Previously, the EC decided not to extend restrictions on the import of four types of Ukrainian agricultural products into some EU countries, but the European Commission obliged Kyiv to control grain exports. After some time, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland announced that they were extending the ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. Because of this, Kyiv decided to file a claim with the WTO.
