Lavrov thanked North Korea for its support in the special operation

Russia highly appreciates the support of the DPRK authorities in conducting the special operation. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during an official visit to Pyongyang.
“We highly appreciate your principled, unequivocal support for Russia’s actions in connection with the special military operation in Ukraine, your support regarding your recognition of the entry of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation,” he said (quote according to TASS).
Lavrov added that Russia also supports North Korea’s desire “to defend its independence.” The minister noted that his visit makes it possible to discuss every agreement that was reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during negotiations at the Vostochny cosmodrome in order to “guarantee the full implementation and implementation of each of these agreements.”
On October 18, Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang on an official visit after completing his trip to Beijing. Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia lasted from September 12 to 17. The North Korean leader held talks with Putin at Vostochny on September 13. Then the Russian president noted that the DPRK leader shows great interest in space technology.
In 2022, the DPRK recognized the results of referendums in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions on joining Russia. During his visit to Russia, Kim Jong-un named special operation in Ukraine as a “sacred struggle” for the sake of protecting state sovereignty. In his opinion, the Russian Federation is opposing hegemonic forces. He also expressed hope that the DPRK and Russia will work together “to fight against imperialism and for the construction of a sovereign state.”
October 12, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK, Kim Jong-un sent congratulations to Putin, in which he wished Russia victory over the “hegemony of the imperialists.” The North Korean leader also said he was satisfied with the “frank and comprehensive exchange of views” during his talks with Putin in Russia.
