Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that the West continues to escalate the situation around Ukraine and wants the conflict to continue. Such a statement he did in an interview with Tsargrad.
“They want this conflict to continue. They want to constantly raise the stakes. To escalate what is now called escalation. Long-range weapons that the British have now handed over, and aircraft that are already being handed over by some former Soviet countries and promised by modern American … <…> If you raise the bar and increase the quality of the confrontation, then you should probably expect an appropriate reaction – at least according to the laws of physics, according to the laws of wartime, ”Lavrov clarified.
When asked by a journalist whether the minister expects further escalation, Lavrov said: “I do not. I’m commenting on the facts.”
In an interview, Lavrov also said that diplomacy around the conflict in Ukraine has turned into ultimatums and blackmail. In his opinion, this happens because there is no understanding of “neither our position, nor our people and the reality that has developed and is being fixed on earth.”
He called the Minsk agreements the last attempt at diplomacy, but the West was not going to do anything, so it turned out to be “diplomacy of lies.”
Lavrov stressed that Russia is still open to diplomacy, but there are no serious proposals from the West.
