Russia and the League of Arab States can and must make their contribution to solving the problems of ending the bloodshed in the Middle East. This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abu al-Gheit.
Russia is ready to cooperate with the League and all countries that are sincerely interested in establishing sustainable peace in the Middle East and ensuring the security of all countries in the region, including Palestine, the Foreign Minister emphasized.
Lavrov is confident that it is necessary not only to urgently “stop the fighting” and solve the problem with civilians, but to understand the reasons why the Palestinian problem cannot find its solution for a long time.
“There are direct, clear, unambiguous decisions of the UN Security Council, agreements between Israel and the Palestinians, including agreements in Oslo and Madrid, and, of course, the Arab peace initiative,” Lavrov recalled.
On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group began military operations against Israel. In response, the Israeli army (IDF) announced the launch of Operation Iron Swords. The Israeli government said the country had entered a state of war. According to Israeli media, over 700 Israelis were killed during the conflict. In Palestine, 2,200 casualties and more than 400 deaths were reported. In the Kremlin expressed extreme concern about events in the Middle East
