Lavrov called Austin’s words about a possible clash with NATO a Freudian slip

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the words of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, who said that Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict threatens a military clash between NATO and the Russian Federation, a Freudian slip.

“He simply came out with a Freudian expression of what was on their mind,” the Russian diplomat said during a speech at a diplomatic forum in Antalya, Turkey.

He recalled that Western countries had previously said that Kyiv should not be allowed to defeat, since after that Russian President Vladimir Putin would allegedly want to gain control over the Baltic countries and other NATO members.

“It turns out that, according to Mr. Austin’s open, ambiguous expression, everything is quite the opposite,” Lavrov added.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Moscow has no thoughts about attacking the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, however, according to Lavrov, the United States has such ideas
