Minister Sergei Lavrov explained the phrase “there is not long to wait” about Russian-American relations
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained what he meant by the phrase “not long to wait” in a recent interview about Russia’s relations with the United States.
In a recent commentary to Rossiya-1 television, Lavrov said Russia and the United States were “in the hot phase of a war,” but pointed to the importance of maintaining relations between Moscow and Washington. According to Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry expects that “the Americans will wake up to reason.” The minister uttered the phrase “Let’s see, it won’t be long to wait.”
During a press conference following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Lavrov clarified his statements. “I meant that the truth will prevail anyway,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov added that the word “not long” can describe various time periods, especially “in historical terms.”
