Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that he had received a message from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Ukraine from his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri, transmit RAI News. The day before, Blinken met with the head of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in Cairo.
“Mr. Minister [иностранных дел Египта] said that he conveyed a certain message from Secretary of State Blinken, who was recently on a visit to Cairo. I confirm this,” Lavrov said. He stressed again that Russia is ready to listen to any serious proposal aimed at resolving the current situation “in its comprehensive context.”
“In this regard, we once again heard a message sent through the minister that Russia must stop, Russia must leave, and then everything will be fine,” the Russian minister added. According to him, the US Secretary of State did not hand over the second part of the appeal. But Lavrov noted that the second part was presented by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg when he was in South Korea.
“He said in one of his speeches that Russia must lose, Russia must be defeated, and the West cannot allow Ukraine to lose, because then the West will lose. And the whole world will lose, said Stoltenberg,” Lavrov said. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Stoltenberg “took the liberty” to speak out not only from NATO member states, but also from all countries of the world.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia.
