Lavrov condemned the drone attack on the Kremlin in the SCO

A number of interlocutors of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CMFA) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in particular, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, condemned the drone attack on the Kremlin. Lavrov spoke about this at a press conference following the said meeting.

“As for the terrorist attack over the Kremlin and the actual residence of the head of state, all our assessments have been presented. Almost all of my interlocutors with whom we spoke yesterday expressed their condemnation. In particular, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan directly condemned this terrorist act and expressed hope for the speedy establishment of the truth and the identification of those responsible,” leads Lavrov’s words “RIA News”.

Lavrov emphasizedthat Russia will respond not with talk, but with concrete actions to a drone attack on the Kremlin. The minister noted that the Ukrainian authorities could not decide to attack the Kremlin without “the knowledge of the owners.”

On May 3, the press service of the President of Russia reported that at night Kyiv made an attempt to attack the Kremlin with the help of two drones. The actions of Kyiv in the Kremlin called “a planned terrorist act, an attempt on the life of the President of Russia.” The Kremlin press service also stressed that Moscow reserves the right to take retaliatory measures “where and when it sees fit.”

The next day, May 4, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov blamed Washington for the drone attack on the Kremlin. According to him, the United States should understand how dangerous such direct participation in the conflict is. “Such decisions – the definition of goals, the definition of means, and so on – all this is dictated to Kyiv from Washington, and we are well aware of this,” Peskov emphasized.

Kyiv denies involvement in the attack. The UN previously also urged the parties to avoid steps leading to an escalation of the conflict. The White House emphasized that the United States had nothing to do with the drone attack on the Kremlin.
