Lavrov called the IMF a tool to achieve US military goals

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has become a tool to achieve the goals of the United States and its allies, including the military. He stated this at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

“Their [новые центры развития в мире] trying to contain it with illegitimate unilateral measures, including cutting off access to modern technology and financial services, ousting from supply chains, confiscation of property, <...>. As a result, the fragmentation of world trade, the collapse of market mechanisms, the paralysis of the World Trade Organization and the final, already without disguise, the transformation of the International Monetary Fund into an instrument for achieving the goals of the United States and its allies, including military goals,” the minister said (quote according to TASS).

Lavrov noted that now “the monocentric system is going through a deep crisis.” According to him, “in a desperate attempt to assert its dominance,” the United States went on to “destroy globalization, which for many years has been hailed as the highest good of all mankind.”

In his opinion, the root cause of the crisis was the desire of individual countries – members of the UN to replace the Charter of the organization and international law with a certain order based on rules that “no one has seen.”

“They are invented and applied in order to counteract the natural processes of formation of new independent development centers, which are the objective manifestation of multilateralism,” Lavrov emphasized.

Today, April 24, Lavrov arrived at the UN headquarters to participate in the meetings of the organization’s Security Council as chairman, which will be held on April 25 and 26.

Lavrov’s trip to New York was complicated by the US delay in issuing visas to the Russian delegation. It was only on April 17 that the Russian minister and other diplomats received the documents from the Russian Foreign Ministry. At the same time, Russian journalists could not get visas. In connection with the failure to issue entry permits, Lavrov called the US behavior ugly and accused Washington of cowardice.
