Ignoring by Sweden and Denmark of official letters from Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Nord Stream is rudeness, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, since September last year, neither Sweden nor Denmark have responded to official letters from Mishustin, who proposed appointing a contact person with whom it would be possible to conduct a dialogue on Nord Stream.
“I think this is rudeness, but this rudeness hides the complete failure of attempts to obscure the responsibility of the collective West, led by the United States, in this sabotage, in organizing this terrorist act,” Lavrov said (quote according to TASS).
Earlier, the State Duma Committee on International Affairs submitted for consideration a draft appeal to the UN with a call to investigate incidents on gas pipelines. The appeal mentions an investigation by American journalist Seymour Hersh, according to which the United States and Norway were involved in undermining three branches of the Nord Stream in the Baltic Sea.
The White House called the information about US involvement in the bombing a lie and a “complete fiction”.
The Nord Stream incident occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Then pressure dropped in both pipelines, and later two leaks were discovered that were located in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more in the Danish EEZ. Initially, the three countries agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but later this idea was abandoned. Sweden has already completed an investigation, but those responsible for what happened have not been named.
