Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Johannesburg (South Africa) to attend the BRICS summit. About it informs TASS.
The plane landed at the South African Air Force Base Waterkloof. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova notedthat the Russian delegation was greeted with folk dances.
The BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will be held from 22 to 24 August in Johannesburg (South Africa) in person for the first time in three years. Lavrov represents Russia at the event in person. Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part via video link.
On the eve of the summit, the BRICS Business Forum will be held, at which the Russian leader will make a video message, the Kremlin said. During the summit, Putin will inform the participants about the priorities of the Russian chairmanship in the association.
It is noted that at the summit meetings, the participants will discuss the possible expansion of the association, the global and regional agenda, as well as the prospects for further development of the BRICS partnership in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. In the event will accept participation leaders from over 40 countries.
