Lavrov arrived in Goa for a meeting of SCO Foreign Ministers – Kommersant

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in the Indian state of Goa to take part in a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This was reported by the correspondent of RIA Novosti.
Sergei Lavrov is also due to meet with the Foreign Ministers of India, China and Pakistan. The ministers plan to prepare for the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States. It will be held July 3-4 in the capital of India, New Delhi.
In addition, at the meeting, the ministers should approve the draft decision of the Council of Heads of Member States on granting Iran the status of a member state and discuss Belarus’ appeal on a possible acceleration of the procedure for admission to the SCO. It is also expected to sign memorandums on granting the status of a dialogue partner of the SCO to Bahrain, Kuwait, Myanmar, the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.
At the moment, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have the status of a member in the SCO.
