Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is not interested in the size of the marginal price for oil, which is going to be introduced by the European Union, transmit “RIA News”.
“We are not interested in what the price ceiling will be,” the minister said. According to him, Russia will negotiate directly with its partners. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that partners who continue to work with Russia “will not look around at these ceilings and will not give any guarantees to those who illegally introduce these ceilings.”
The day before, November 30, Bloomberg, citing sources informedthat the EU countries are discussing limiting the price of Russian oil at $60 per barrel.
“EU talks on the level of restriction of Russian oil supplies stalled last week. Poland and the Baltic states have demanded a price that will put more pressure on Moscow’s revenues, arguing that the current offers, which have dropped to $62, are too generous. Greece and other shipping countries insisted on a higher price,” the agency wrote.
“RIA Novosti” earlier, citing a source in Brussels reportedthat the EU is likely to set a ceiling on the price of oil from Russia at $62 per barrel, despite calls from Poland and the Baltic states to lower it.
Speaking at the forumRussian Energy Week» On October 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again stressed that energy supplies to those countries that approve the price ceiling would be cut off. Before that, he repeatedly said that the introduction of restrictions would lead to an increase in energy prices. During the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) Putin said that the idea of introducing a price ceiling on energy resources is “nonsense and nonsense.”
