The leadership of Ukraine “in every possible way” demonstrates its readiness to intervene in the situation in Transnistria, including with the use of force. About this in an interview with the TASS agency declared Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“The Ukrainian leadership also plays its extremely negative, subversive role, which, in violation of its status as a mediator in the 5 + 2 format, unequivocally took the side of Chisinau, in every possible way supports its militant aspirations, destructive aspirations towards Pridnestrovie, digs defensive structures, fortifications between Ukraine and Pridnestrovie and in every possible way demonstrates its readiness to intervene in this process, including with the use of force,” he said.

The minister added that Russia is responsible for security in Transnistria “in full accordance with the mandate” that the Russian military has. “We will be guided by this mandate,” the politician stressed.

Russian peacekeepers have been in Transnistria since 1992, they were introduced to end the armed conflict between Chisinau and Tiraspol
