An informal summit with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take place in the near future. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
“Several telephone conversations, face-to-face meetings took place, and another informal summit is planned for the near future, which will consider all areas of our partnership,” the minister said (quote according to TASS).
Lavrov added that the presidents have been in regular contact lately, and noted “the dynamic development of bilateral relations” as well as the continuation of “an intense, trusting political dialogue.”
Putin and Erdogan agreed to meet during telephone conversations on August 2. The leaders of Russia and Turkey intend to discuss, among other things, the issues of settling the situation in Ukraine and extending the grain deal. On August 28, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that a meeting between Putin and Erdogan would take place in the near future.
As previously reported by the Turkish media, Erdogan will arrive in Russian Sochi on September 4 – this date was also mentioned by TASS sources. Peskov 30 August confirmedthat the meeting between the presidents of Turkey and Russia will be held in Russia, its date will be announced “one of these days.”
