Lavrov accused Borrell of racism

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Mali, commented on the commentary of European diplomacy Josep Borrell on the trip of the Russian Foreign Minister to Africa. The words of the minister are quoted by the telegram channel “You listened to Mayak”.

Lavrov quoted Borrell that he is again touring Africa, and Mali is an easy country for Russia, but other states, in his opinion, are not so simple, and the Russian Federation is allegedly spreading lies about who is to blame for what is happening. According to the minister, this statement was made by a man who does not know how to hide “the racist essence of his vision of the world.”

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that not so long ago Borrell said that Europe is a flowering garden, he considered himself a gardener, and the environment of Europe – the jungle, from which threats arise for a flowering garden. Therefore, Lavrov recalled, Borrell believes that a flowering garden should be more careful with the jungle in order to preserve its well-being.

Lavrov stressed that there is “nothing to add” here regarding who and how relates to the needs of the interests of African countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation added that there is nothing to hide and be ashamed of, because it was Russia that stood at the origins of the liberation of Africa from the “colonial yoke”.
