The Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a draft decision to stop the activities of the Pededze and Vientuli checkpoints on the border with Russia. About it reported united portal of Latvian public media Rus.LSM.lv.
The operation of these checkpoints may cease from October 16. The Russian-language Latvian news portal Mixnews explains that these actions will be a response to the decision of the Russian government to limit the possibility of Ukrainian citizens entering Russia at two checkpoints, one of which is the Vientuli checkpoint on the Latvian-Russian border.
The Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs believes that this decision could significantly disrupt public order and pose a threat to national security.
Government of the Russian Federation approved special procedure for entry into Russia for citizens of Ukraine from October 16. Ukrainians will be able to enter Russia through the Ludonka automobile checkpoint in the Pskov region and Moscow Sheremetyevo airport. The procedure applies to all citizens of Ukraine from 14 years of age and older, as well as citizens under 14 years of age, accompanied by a legal representative, guardian or trustee from among the citizens of foreign countries.
