Latvian Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis said that the country does not plan, following the example of Finland, to completely close the entire border with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
According to him, the number of attempts to illegally enter the country has decreased recently. Moreover, if the situation worsens, Riga does not exclude the possibility of closing the eastern border.
“You can’t think that anything is ruled out,” Kozlovskis added.
Earlier, the Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced its intention to close the last operating checkpoint on the border with Russia – Raia-Jooseppi – Lotta – at midnight on November 30.
