Latvia announced the strengthening of border control in the regions bordering Belarus

The Latvian government has published a statement from which it follows that from August 11, the republic will strengthen the border control regime in the regions bordering Belarus for six months.
The enhanced regime will operate in the territories of Ludza, Kraslava, Augshdaugava counties and Daugavpils, the cabinet said in a statement.
Earlier, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said that the country had agreed with Latvia and Poland on a mechanism for the complete closure of the border with Belarus. Prior to this, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that the country’s authorities should be prepared to close the border.
