Kyiv’s strikes on Russian cities frightened the West: called the main risk of the year

Ukraine has adopted a suicidal strategy

It is very symbolic that the American spacecraft, launched towards the Moon and lost somewhere there, in endless space, carried a pennant with the Ukrainian flag and the outlines of the borders of Ukraine. He flew away and did not promise to return. So Kyiv, as The Washington Post writes, will fall in 2025. And The Time magazine names a “divided Ukraine” among the main risks of the current year.

Political scientists contacted by The Washington Post believe that “the consequences of ending US aid to Ukraine would be simply catastrophic.” Because Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict “will bring Russia closer to NATO and the EU” and this will be the end of “US global leadership.” I wonder if Ukraine’s accession to NATO would not bring Russia closer to the North Atlantic Alliance? Well, oh well, they have their own kind of logic, the main postulate of which is the postulate that “US global leadership” is a priori good, everything else is bad. US assistance will certainly not stop. But the White House administration has already officially made it clear that it will not be in the current volumes. This is a strong hint that Kyiv needs to go on the defensive – no one believes in Zelensky’s victorious reports anymore.

And what will this lead to, writes The Time. According to the publication, “Kyiv has received a strong blow from waning political and material support from the United States, and the prospects for European assistance are only slightly better. Ukraine desperately needs more troops.” And unless it “soon resolves its personnel problems, increases its weapons production, and develops a realistic military strategy, its territorial losses may be permanent and possibly expanding.” This is such a forcedly polite formulation that in fact states a serious failure of Kyiv: the lack of a “realistic military strategy”, the impossibility of its own production of a sufficient number of weapons, the lack of manpower in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (chaotic attempts at forced mobilization are met with resistance from ordinary Ukrainians). In addition, experts write, “Russia now has the initiative on the battlefield and a material advantage” and Ukraine this year “will remain de facto divided.”

The biggest danger, analysts see, is that “Kyiv will take greater military risks this year, including strikes against more targets inside Russia, which would provoke an unprecedented Russian response and could drag NATO into the conflict.”

But here there is already logic. Kyiv, which has nothing to respond to at the front, is already moving on to terrorist attacks on peaceful Russian cities. And the calculation here is that Russia will become furious and “suffer like hell.” Western hawks will not forgive this and, under the guise of the “obvious” Russian threat, will drag NATO countries into the conflict. And then all the way to “we’ll go to heaven, and they’ll just die.”

However, judging by the response actions of our army, which carries out retaliatory strikes not on civilian but on military targets in Ukraine, Kiev will not be able to bring Russia to a state of berserk combat madness. It is equally important that the West, through publications in authoritative media, shows that Kyiv’s “cunning plan” is known and understandable to it. And the West, for all its external rhetoric, is very pragmatic and, unlike Zelensky, is not ready to push its countries to commit suicide. (And Kyiv’s terrorist tactics are suicidal – after all, Russia will have to “push back” the threat until there are no territories left from which launches can be carried out on our cities. What kind of “divided Ukraine” is there…)

However, Western pragmatism does not give a chance for a quick end to the conflict. The Americans, who unsuccessfully launched their apparatus on the Moon, said that they would try to obtain scientific data from it until the last moment, until it finally breaks down. It’s the same with Ukraine. The West will continue to squeeze benefits out of it for as long as Ukraine lasts. And then it will disappear, just like that pennant with the yellow-blue flag in endless space.
