The Ukrainian authorities have announced the forced evacuation of children from the areas of Donbass and the Kherson region controlled by Kiev, according to a message from the country’s Ministry of Integration on the Telegram channel.

Evacuation will be carried out from eight settlements in the Bakhmut and Pokrovsky districts (Donetsk People’s Republic), “where the situation remains critical.” Before the onset of cold weather, it is planned to take about 250 children, accompanied by one of their parents or a legal representative, to the Zhytomyr region, where they will be given asylum.

Today, the Ministry of Integration of Ukraine also reported the forced evacuation of 802 children from 23 settlements of Berislavsky, Kakhovsky and Kherson districts of the Kherson region. Children are evacuated by rail and bus to the Khmelnitsky, Nikolaev, Odessa, Lviv regions, as well as the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The authorities plan to deploy three collection points and five reception centers for evacuation.

September 26, Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo reportedthat Ukraine has begun the forced evacuation of residents of 31 Kyiv-controlled settlements in the region. According to Saldo, Kherson residents are being intimidated to force them to leave their homes. In August there was a mandatory evacuation announced in the Ukrainian-controlled Kupyansky district of the Kharkov region.

The Kherson region and the DPR, as well as the LPR and the Zaporozhye region, became part of Russia on September 30, 2022. On October 19, 2022, martial law was introduced in the regions. Russia controls most of the Kherson region, but Russian troops were forced to abandon Kherson itself. Part of the DPR is also under the control of Kyiv.
