Kyiv allowed intervention in the situation in Transnistria at the request of Chisinau

If Moldovan President Maia Sandu asks Kyiv to provide military support to the republic in the situation with Transnistria, then Ukraine will consider this issue. This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
During the interview, he was asked if a situation is possible in which Sandu will ask Ukraine to support Moldova “by military means.”
“If there is such an appeal, it can be considered taking into account all ongoing processes and circumstances. Moreover, we are neighbors,” he replied.
Danilov also said that Russia has a plan allegedly to organize “discredit and rebellion” on the territory of Moldova. If this happens, then Ukraine will have “an additional point of tension,” he added.
On March 1, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Kyiv was preparing for a provocation near Transnistria, the purpose of which was to accuse the Russian army of allegedly delivering strikes on radiation hazardous facilities. She also expressed concern that a possible provocation is being prepared near Transnistria, “around which the Kiev regime deliberately escalates tension.”
On February 23, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Kyiv was also planning an armed provocation against Transnistria. The Russian Foreign Ministry warned the United States and NATO countries “against the next adventurous steps” and promised to adequately respond to a possible provocation. The Kremlin also expressed concern over the situation in Transnistria. Later, the data on the accumulation of military personnel near Transnistria was confirmed by the Ukrainian military.
