Kuleba warned of “great events” on February 24, which “Russia will remember”

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba published on social networks a fragment of his interview with Ukrainian TV presenter Vadim Karpyak, in which he warned that on February 23-24, on the anniversary of the start of a special military operation, some decisions would be made that “Russia will remember.”

“Great events will take place in New York on February 23 and 24,” Kuleba said, adding that discussions on the Ukrainian conflict will be held these days.

Apparently, Kyiv hopes to raise the topic of Russia’s exclusion from the UN Security Council again. However, Kuleba noted that so far we are talking only about work in this direction.

The decisions that can be taken these days, according to the Ukrainian minister, will concern new sanctions and arms supplies. “There will be many important political signals, there will be symbols of unity, and this will happen at all levels,” Kuleba said.

“I will say this: Russia will remember how the world celebrates the anniversary,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added.

Recall that in December 2022 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine published a statement on its website in which it called on the UN member states to deprive Russia of the status of a permanent member of the UN Security Council and exclude the Russian Federation from the UN as a whole.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly explained that Russia’s participation in the Security Council as a permanent member is prescribed in Article 23 of the UN Charter, and for the adoption of amendments to the charter, the signature of all permanent members of the Security Council is required. Thus, Russia has the right to veto this decision.
