Kremlin: Putin’s trip to Mariupol “no one turned gray”

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that Putin keeps the topic of restoring new regions under round-the-clock control.

“The development and restoration of new territories, of course, is a paramount task for the entire state and, of course, this is a topic that is under the control of the president around the clock. Therefore, the fact that he decided to personally see everything on the spot is quite natural. Actually, Putin always does this,” he said.

During the conference call, Peskov also disagreed with the assessment of one of the journalists that the trip to Mariupol could be considered Putin’s “impromptu”.

“This cannot be called Putin’s new style. Putin always tries to ensure a variety of sources of information, and especially on those topics that he holds under his personal control,” he stressed.

The Kremlin announced the first trip of the president to Donbass after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine on the morning of March 19. Putin visited with a working trip to Mariupol, a coastal city of the DPR. He arrived there by helicopter, then drove around the city in a car. He examined at least six objects, including the coastline in the area of ​​the yacht club, the theater building, as well as memorable places. Putin arrived in Donbass after Crimea, where he visited on the nine-year anniversary of the annexation of the peninsula to Russia.

Peskov added that the president’s plans include visits to other regions over the next two to three weeks, but did not specify which subjects he was talking about.
